I find it so amazing to see my baby grow, achieve new milestones and develop new skills. As new parents, it gives us so much joy when my husband and I are able to provide him with a safe and fun environment that supports his growth and development. I place a lot of importance on swim lessons. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), drowning is a leading cause of death among children and toddlers, that’s why swimming is an essential life-saving skill that I want my baby to be equipped with.
He started his swim lessons at 6 months old at GoldFish Swim School in Northbrook. They offer swim lessons from ages 4 months up to 12 years old with 80+ locations in North America. He is in their Mini 1 class with max 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio. The class focuses on getting babies getting acquainted with water and learning swim skills like floating on their backs, kicking and going underwater. It’s really helpful how their schedule is flexible from Tuesday to Sunday that can accommodate our busy work schedule. We take him once a week and he’s been loving his morning swim classes!

Starting swim lessons early is proven to have lifelong benefits. According to Swimming.org, not only does swim time for babies improve their muscle strength and ability on the outside, but also provides internal benefits by getting their joints moving.
I really love seeing our baby build water confidence early. It’s also a wonderful bonding experience as they let parents swim with their babies.
The facility has a very fun tropical decor! From the moment we walked in, we could already feel a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is organized, clean and well maintained. The staff and crew are friendly and well trained!
The indoor swimming pool is heated to 90° which is so safe and comfortable for small babies. They incorporate fun, making the lessons more interactive and conducive to easier learning! Their proprietary “The Science of SwimPlay” Curriculum focuses on teaching swim and safety skills while building character through guided play. My baby really enjoys and thinks he’s only playing when in reality, he’s already learning swim skills that can save his life! For instance, they make them pick up small balls in the water and drop them off in the bin, which teaches them to cup their hands on the water.
I truly appreciate how they are so baby-friendly! They have impressively clean changing stations where my baby feels so at home because it’s the same comfy changing pad we have in his nursery! They even provide diapers, disposable pads and disinfecting wipes! My germaphobe hubby is so happy! They have kid-friendly amenities like hair drying station with blow dryers, swimsuit dryers & private changing rooms.

The Air-conditioned viewing gallery is spacious and relaxing, they even have puzzles, toys and books to keep kids to occupied while waiting. Parents can sit comfortably while watching the lessons.
I look forward to seeing my baby progress and be skilled in swimming. We are so happy how his swim lessons are going and we intend to continue his classes until he’s older!
Thank you GoldFish Swim School for sponsoring this post.
